Derry has a rich heritage of Irish Dancing, and there is none better known there than the McKinney family, who, after years of travelling around Ireland in competion, established the McKinney Academy of Irish Dance, in 1987.

Since then, the academy has gone from strength-to-strength. Pupils from the school have participated in Feiseanna, all over Ireland, with titles and prizes too numerous to mention. Yet still, the emphasis is not on winning, but on dancing, and taking part.
So it can be safely said that the McKinney pupils have definately followed in the footsteps of their teachers.
